Louis Harrison, MD, FASTRO

Co-Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Harrison has been the President, CEO and Co-Founder of MyCareGorithm, LLC since the company’s creation in 2020. He received his BA from Duke University, and his MD degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. He did his surgical internship at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and completed his Radiation Oncology training, including his term as Chief Resident, at the Yale New Haven Hospital and the Yale University College of Medicine.

Following his training, he joined the faculty at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. While at Memorial he assumed increasing responsibilities over his 11-year tenure and was Chief of the Brachytherapy Service in the Department of Radiation Oncology as well as the Institutional Program Leader of the Multidisciplinary Head & Neck Cancer Disease Management Team. He was also appointed to the faculty of Cornell University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor (1987-1991) and Associate Profession (1991-1997).

Dr. Harrison joined Continuum Health Partners (Beth Israel Medical Center, St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals and NY Eye and Ear Infirmary) in 1997. While there he served as Chairman and Gerald J. Friedman Endowed Chair of Radiation Oncology and Physician-in-Chief of Continuum Cancer Centers of New York. He was Professor of Radiation Oncology and Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Harrison joined the Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in 2014. During his tenure at Moffitt, he served in several leadership roles including Chair of Radiation Oncology, Deputy Physician in Chief, Vice President and Chief Partnership Officer and Senior Physician Executive. He remains Chair Emeritus for the Department of Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Harrison has been elected to several national and international leadership positions in his field. This includes the positions of Chairman of the Board and President of The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the leading Radiation Oncology professional society in the country. He has also served as President of the American Brachytherapy Society and President of the International Society of Intraoperative Radiation Therapy. He has also served on the board of the Eastern Division of the American Cancer Society.

Dr. Harrison’s research is focused on head and neck cancer and sarcoma. He has been instrumental in developing multi-disciplinary strategies that focus on organ function preservation and quality of life outcomes. This has also included using brachytherapy and intraoperative radiation therapy to deal with complex clinical situations including re-treatment and second malignancies.

Dr. Harrison has over 300 peer reviewed publications and has been a visiting professor and lecturer at conferences and institutions all over the world. He is the senior editor of the textbook Head and Neck Cancer: A Multidisciplinary Approach, now in its fourth edition. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society, Clarence Dennis Society Prize, Henschke Award for Brachytherapy, the Physician Excellence Award from the American Cancer Society, and the Boyer Prize for Biomedical Research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Center. In 2017, he was awarded the ASTRO Gold Medal, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Radiation Oncologist, honoring his lifetime contributions to the field, including Clinical Care, Research and Education.
